manroland’s new futureproof package helps sheet-fed and web-fed printers dramatically reduce future upgrade costs and protect long term strategic investments.
The extended lifecycle of a press means making a decision to invest requires a long term vision and clear strategy. And, while once it was primarily uncertain economic conditions that made longer-term planning difficult, today, rapidly changing market demands including run lengths, print-on-demand and a multitude of potential added-value printing options, means the printer must ensure this crucial large investment is flexible enough to address the needs of the market in five or 10 years time – whatever they may be.
manroland’s new futureproof package addresses exactly this, offering printers a complete solution to ‘future proof’ their investment in new press technology. The futureproof package provides an extensive range of optional equipment from the QuickChange and Inline series’, as well as general automation equipment, all of which can be retrofitted in the future to offer the printer as much added flexibility and functionality as they need –when they need it.
With futureproof, customers who purchase a new manroland sheetfed offset press have the assurance that they can add a range of retrofits to their press within a five year period enabling printers to quickly adapt to changes in customer demand and market trends. The customer simply selects retrofit options from an extensive catalogue. And, as the five-year period for retrofits applies to the press and not the owner, futureproof is transferable to a new owner which helps to increase press resale value.
manroland's futureproof package can be ordered with a new press and provides the very best Return on Investment as it enables the press to upgrade easily and inexpensively at a later date, and also entitles the customer to a special price for the upgrade. For example, should a sheetfed press customer decide to retrofit quality control equipment which includes systems for colour control, sheet inspection and sheet travel monitoring within the first five years; the investment in futureproof will pay two-fold. Furthermore, should the customer decide to retrofit cold foil enhancement equipment, the cost advantage of futureproof can triple.
manroland’s QuickChange range of solutions reduce makeready time and, when buying a new press, customers can choose from over ten options depending on their job structure. And, should the job structure change by the time a customer wants to have the options retrofitted, other QuickChange products can also be installed to meet current requirements.
The Inline equipment series is grouped under three main functions: print enhancement - such as cold foil transfer; quality control - including full-sheet inspection and reduction in operational costs - the reel-to-sheet feeder, for example. From a technical aspect, futureproof also comprises a wide range of mechanical and electrical preparation work - a pre-requisite for trouble-free retrofits to ensure time and resource savings.
